etcetera: September 2003 Archives

okay, okay

i promise i won't post on a weekly basis; i'll be making this a more habitual part of my life as soon as i figure out how.

things have been pretty crazy lately. i'm trying to make sense of life at the moment: balancing school (i'm now a school full-time student), *cino (full-time job) and world fare (full-time job). it's interesting, that's for sure, but i'm not sure if i'll ever completely get the hang of it. i guess i'll have to see what happens.

well, the store has officially been open for a week. i'm still trying to get over the fact that we essentially went from nothing to a full-blown retail operation in a little over a month.

the only way such an abbreviated timeline was possible was through an amazing outpouring of support from family and friends. our church here, st. john's lutheran, has been wonderful. we've only been attending services there for about eight months, but they have embraced us and our vision completely.

the first week has been very successful. as i reported on the bulletin board, we sold nearly $2,000 in merchandise during our grand opening weekend. we've had a steady stream of visitors and customers all week, despite having had little time to market (read: no advertising). i'm really excited to see where all of this goes.

i know it's a little strange to start this blog in the middle of the project, but logistical details kept me from starting earlier. i'll try to add pertinent past information and details along the way.
